Here’s how we’ve helped some of our clients using our SCORE framework…

What does a SEO specialist do?

An SEO specialist is like a detective. They investigate your website and figure out what it needs to be more attractive to search engines. They’re always on the hunt for keywords, links, and content that can boost your website’s visibility.

They keep up with trends, Look deep into the numbers, creates content not just for search engines but for real life humans (sorry AI) and get backlinks that are like gold dust.

The SEO game is always changing, so the work as an SEO specialist is always evolving but the fundamentals of an SEO specialist are to create high quality content that people want to read and make that content available and understood to search engines.

What is on-page SEO?

On page SEO is the process of improving elements ON your website to rank better within search engines. Pages on a website should be optimised towards a target keyword(s) by making changes to things like title tags, meta descriptions, headers, on-page content, image alt tags.

Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness and Trust (E-E-A-T) are considerations of Google when ranking content. It’s a bit of a fancy way of saying it but good on-page SEO should be user friendly, useful, unique content, not thin content and be aligned with user search intent.

What is off-page SEO?

Off-page SEO refers to all the activities that take place outside of your website to improve its search engine rankings. These activities are aimed at increasing the authority and trustworthiness of your website in the eyes of search engines like Google by creating links back to your site.

When Google looks to rank your site, if the on-page and technical elements are equal with competitors, then having more, high quality links will see you go ahead of them.

There are lots of different tactics involved in off page SEO to create backlinks to a website.

What is technical SEO?

Technical SEO is the process involved in optimising the technical aspects of a site to provide a better user experience and in turn see better results in the search engine results pages.

Some elements involved in tech SEO:

  • Site architecture and structure – Ensuring that your website’s structure is optimised for search engines, has a clear hierarchy and crawlable URLs
  • Site speed and performance – Optimising speed and page load times.
  • Indexing and crawlability – Ensuring that search engines can crawl and index all pages on your site
  • Structured data & schema markup – Helping search engines to better understand the content on your site

Which element of SEO is most important: on-page, off-page or technical?

All of them! You could have the best on-page ever with a well thought out keyword strategy, content and optimised pages but if Google can’t find your pages (poor technical) then your site won’t be going anywhere. Alternatively, you could have really good off-page SEO with a heap of high quality backlinks and boost a great Domain Rating, but if you don’t get the basic on-page SEO right then you won’t be seeing favourable results.

All three elements of SEO work hand in hand and for the best results, all three should be working hard.

How much should you pay for SEO?

It depends (and SEO’s favourite answer!) but it does depends on a few things; how big your website it i.e how many pages, how quickly you want to see results, what SEO activity you’ve done to date, how well the site is doing, where the opportunities are etc.

Our SEO monthly management starts at £850 per month and can go up to £3,000+ depending on your goals, website and current results.

We usually recommend starting with an audit to uncover where you are, what the potential is and what ongoing work is required.
